my name is alex shapiro & I love making art.
                                                                                                                                                     
I am from Buffalo, NY (go bills) and graduated in 2024 from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
I concentrated in Interactive Art & Play and Its Impact on K-12 Public Education, along with a minor in Studio Art.

I am very interested in hands-on learning, specifically in public school and museum settings. I believe that interactive art and exhibits are the key to curing museum fatigue by increasing both retension of and interest in the content we consume.

When it comes to my art making, I explore topics such as gender, sexuality, nostalgia, fear, and the intersection that exists between them all. I strive to make things that are perplexing and odd. If it makes sense at first glance, I feel as though I haven’t done by job.    

No matter the medium, I create things that speak to the core of who I am as a person, while simuntalneously not always understanding where they came from. It is through the creation of art that I attempt to understand myself, the world around me, and the impact we have on each other.
